MOVIE DIALOGUE OF THE DAY ― DEATH TO SMOOCHY (2002)

Connection to the previous post (BIRDMAN OR ((THE VIRTUE OF IGNORANCE)): Edward Norton co-starred in both films

Ratings: IMDB ― 6.4/10, Rotten Tomatoes ― 42%, ME ― 50%

Randolph: What about Wally the Whale?
Sheldon: Laura, how could you do it with Wally the Whale?
Randolph: There she blows!
Sheldon: I don't believe this is happening. I can't believe you didn't tell me about this.
Nora: Listen, Sheldon, I'm not proud of it but, there was a time in my life when I was a bit of a kiddie host groupie.

Robin Williams as Randolph, Edward Norton as Sheldon and Katherine Keener as Nora.

Trivia (From IMDB):

In Sheldon's (Edward Norton's) house/apartment he has a picture of a rhino on his wall. He kept this picture and has it hanging on his wall in real life.

Jim Carrey was attached to star at one point but eventually dropped out to do The Majestic (2001).

When hosting The 78th Annual Academy Awards (2006), Jon Stewart mentioned this movie as one of his few acting jobs. He said "Welcome to the Seventy-Eighth Annual Academy Awards... hosted by me... the fourth male lead in "Death To Smoochy". Rent it."

Singer Henry Rollins auditioned for the part of Spinner. Rollins details the first audition with Danny DeVito on his spoken word performance DVD Henry Rollins: Up for It (2001), part of which consists of throwing a chair at DeVito.

The spirulina and almond butter mixture Sheldon puts on his soy hot dog was actually concocted by Edward Norton in his hotel room.

The ice skating stunts at the end of the movie were choreographed and skated by Canadian skater Elvis Stojko.

Features a shot of Catherine Keener whizzing a Frisbee at Edward Norton which is very similar to a shot in The War of the Roses (1989) which was also directed by Danny DeVito.

In the original script, the Smoochy costume was orange.

Richard Hamilton's last film.

Spoilers ―

In the scene where Spinner gets dropped into the middle of the street, there's a puddle beside him. The Chinese character reflected in the puddle is the word for "death".

During the Ice Show, the Chinese writing that's shining on the ice when the film shows Spinner/Moochy The Rhino lying dead, reads: "Dead Rhino".
