TEN DISAPPOINTING FACTS ABOUT JOHN LENNON

Domestic Abuse

Both of Lennon's wives, Cynthia and Yoko, were subject to his abusive ways.

He admitted the abuse later in his life, and it is documented back to his Liverpool days.

In an interview with "Playboy," he was quoted as saying, "I was a hitter."

Emotional Abuse
―

Lennon was known to fly off in rages and rail against anyone unfortunate enough to be around him.

A sad victim of Lennon's emotional abuse was his son, Julian.

Lennon resented the birth of his son with his first wife, Cynthia, and did not hide this fact from his son on those rare occasions he was actually around.

Pathological Liar
―

John did, indeed, have a problem with the truth. He displayed tendencies of an egomaniac and would lie at any time in order to make himself appear as successful, talented, and smart as possible.

Broke up the Beatles
―

No one likes to see a good thing end, and that is especially true of Beatles fans around the world.

Conformist
―

Lennon wanted more than anything to be seen as a nonconformist.

He was anything but and was only successful in associating with known anti-conformist groups and organizations, which lent credence to the reputation but none to his deeds.

Politically Uninvolved
―

Lennon certainly did involve himself in political controversy in the 1970s, and that helped him emulate the hippie guru persona his fans associated with him.

However, he never did anything of consequence except donate money to violent organizations such as the Black Panthers.

Talentless
―

Many have said that Lennon had no real talent. It is a fact that he and Paul McCartney formed a songwriting duo that created many great songs, but aside from that, much hype surrounding Lennon was actually manufactured by Lennon himself via press releases and personal statements.

Being a professional both his piano and guitar playing were fair at best, and he did not have a strong voice.

Loved Money and Fame
―

You cannot blame someone who makes a success of their lives and enjoys all the perks that go with it.

However, in Lennon's case, his love of fame and money greatly contradicted his self-made persona of being a nonconformist, and it showed.

A Follower
―

Truly successful acts such as the Beatles have to find that sweet spot where there is a void and own it.

What Lennon did following the breakup of the band was basically emulate Bob Dylan for a while.

What Lennon did following the breakup of the band was basically emulate Bob Dylan for a while.

He then moved on to avant-garde and modern art music, all of which had all been done before him.

Hyopcrite
―

Fans want to believe that the person they idolize is worthy.John Lennon talked a good talk, but his walk was weak.

He had a violent and narcissistic personality that bled through his important relationships, and he played at being a pop culture icon.

Overbearing
―

Not only was Lennon abusive to his wife Yoko, he was also very possessive of her.

Afraid that she would leave him, Lennon made sure to know where Yoko was all times of the day.

She was made to go to the bathroom with him on occasion.

Yoko Ono caught a lot of flak for always being around during band practice, but this was Lennon's choice.

This coming from a guy who was unfaithful during all his relationships.
